For the first-timers

Hello!
Thank you for your interest in Westie Tokyo!
"Partner dancing seems difficult..." "Holding hands feels embarrassing..."
I understand you have those kinds of anxieties.
Do you have any of these problems?
"I'm worried because I'm not athletic."
"Can I participate even if I'm alone?"
"The average age seems high..."
"Partner dancing seems like it would be expensive..."
"I might not be able to continue because I'm too busy..."
I completely understand how you feel!!

We felt the same way at first.
But actually, Westie Tokyo provides a very reassuring environment for beginners to get started!
No athletic ability or dance experience required
Most of the participants are beginners!
The most important thing about dancing is to have fun.
You can grow at your own pace while having fun.
Solo Participation OK
Most participants join the trial class on their own!
One of the great things about West Coast Swing is that you can even compete without bringing a partner.
We also have several members who have experience in ballroom dance competitions, as well as dance teachers.
West Coast Swing is especially recommended for those with a ballroom dance background.
Different Ages and Nationalities
We have more students in their 20s-40s recently, but there are people in from their 20s to 70s in the community! We also have many students from abroad, so you can enjoy intercultural experience!
Simple Lesson Fee
Class fees are set before the class and there won't be additional fees charged outside of it.
You can choose from the trial class, 3-months course and private lesson, according to your goal and budget.

Check out the voices of the students!
Most of them were feeling anxious in the beginning, and now they are so into it!
Testimonials
Women in their 30s
I was very nervous because I had no prior dance experience, but as I got absorbed in the movements, I gradually relaxed, and by the end of the lesson, I was able to move in time with the music, which was incredibly moving!
Women in their 30s
I had no musical or dance experience, and absolutely no sense of rhythm, so I was half-doubtful whether I could actually dance. But everyone else who was there for the trial lesson encouraged me. By combining the class with practicing at home, I can now dance at parties!
Woman in 20s
I have been learning West Coast Swing in my country and wanted to learn from the professionals while I was staying in Japan and it was the best choice I have made!
They were really sweet, funny and kind, and at the same time really professional. I made so many friends in their classes and parties.
Man in their 20s
I have always wanted to learn West Coast Swing but I have never tried it back home.
I started with them, and I progressed so fast. They were really welcoming and they became another family to me in Japan.

Our Mission
"We want to share the power and the joy of Partner Dancing - the power to change the life of a person completely"
WESTIE TOKYO is a project founded by Okacchi in 2020 with the aim of developing the West Coast Swing scene in Japan.
Since then, as the scene has grown, WESTIE TOKYO has continued to evolve little by little, changing its form and members along the way.
Through lessons, events, inviting international dancers to Japan, and many other initiatives, we have continued to take on new challenges, learning through trial and error as we work to make this dance more accessible and enjoyable for more people.
We believe that partner dancing has the power to transform lives.
Through dance, we learn how to connect with others, face the vulnerable parts of ourselves, become more aware of our bodies, and continue challenging ourselves to grow into new versions of who we are. We ourselves have experienced this journey through partner dancing, from the past to the present. And we are always excited and honored to watch and support the people who face this dance alongside us, grow together with us, and discover new possibilities within themselves.
Okacchi has personally experienced how partner dancing — and this dance in particular — can change a person’s life, even from a place of deep despair. We will continue moving forward with the hope of sharing that passion and possibility with as many people as possible.
