Happy New Year, everyone!
How did you spend your holiday season?
At Westie Tokyo, we sometimes organize community trips such as camps, retreats, and overseas dance trips alongside international events we attend ourselves.
This time, with the help of one of our Membership Class students, Takamin, we held a Winter Camp in Isumi City, Chiba, on December 20–21!
After stopping by a supermarket near the station for supplies, we split into shuttle buses and cars and headed to our cottage.
The cottage, tucked away in the mountains of Isumi, was surrounded by beautiful red and brown autumn leaves.
Breathing in the fresh air and being surrounded by nature felt absolutely amazing!
As soon as we arrived, the Germany–Israel–Denmark team immediately started opening wine bottles 😂
Meanwhile, the Japanese team quickly got to work preparing ingredients for the BBQ 😂
Everyone worked together to prepare the food, start the fire, and enjoy a delicious barbecue together.
“It’s so hot!!”“Good thing it’s winter!!”
Everyone laughed while enjoying grilled meat, vegetables, yakisoba, and marshmallow s’mores together.
After the BBQ, of course… dance time began immediately.
The spacious wooden floor area had been completely cleared out by the facility staff so we could dance freely without worrying about anything. Everyone practiced together, social danced, and had fun all night long.
At some point, a spontaneous “spotlight performance time” started, and people became so dramatic that everyone was laughing nonstop like we were in a TV show.
And amazingly, the facility even had a sauna and jacuzzi!
Some people relaxed in the large baths, while others heated up the sauna and enjoyed it late into the night.
We talked, played games, and spent time together… and before we knew it, it was already 3:00 AM.
The next morning, one of our members who works in cosmetics even gave an incredibly helpful makeup lesson!
It was such a fun weekend right up until the very last minute 💛
One of the best things about joining the 3-month course is that before you know it, you make friends close enough to go on trips and stay overnight together like this ✨
It’s also a great chance for international exchange — you naturally get to practice English and other languages too!
If this sounds interesting to you, come check us out sometime 💛
